A dear family friend

Created by Tracy one year ago

Ian has been  a family friend for as long as i can remember ,it was only a few months ago that we were chatting and he said he remembered clearly the day i was born in October 1965 . Ian and my brother Tony were then both fifteen years old and they were slightly mortified and also fascinated by the new addition to the Dell family he told me .

Ian and Tony were lifelong friends meeting at primary school with our families living  close to each other on the New Greens estate in St. Albans. Ian was at almost every "Dell" celebration i can remember and always joined us over Christmas when we were all still at home .

In more recent years Ian was a great support for Tony's boys James and Alex when they lost first their Mum and then their dad ,always on hand for advice to talk and to listen and to help wherever  he could . Ian also continued to  visit my Mum in her final years when they enjoyed chatting about times gone by and the good old days.

Ian was the definition of a true friend always generous with his time and advice and he should have had many more years to indulge his passions .

Ian you will be greatly missed by all those whose lives you have touched .
